Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 48 calls between Feb. 18-26.
Feb. 18
Deputies responded to a report of a fire in Fort Kipp. They observed signs of a fire that was extinguished. The homeowner said that a cigarette accidentally created a small fire, but everything was now OK. Deputies told the Culbertson Fire Department that assistance wasn’t needed.
Deputies assisted the Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice with the search of two juvenile miles near Poplar. The individuals were found.
Feb. 19
Deputies conducted a welfare check after receiving a request from Culbertson’s Schools regarding a student. Parents provided information about why the student wasn’t at school that day.
Feb. 19
Deputies assisted the Wolf Point Police Department with transporting an adult female to tribal jail.
Feb. 20
Deputies assisted with a report of a passed out male on the steps of the public library in Wolf Point. He was told to leave the area, but he took a few steps and passed out. He was placed under arrest. He was cleared at the hospital in Poplar and then taken to the tribal adult jail.
Deputies assisted Mc-Cone County, the Montana Highway Patrol and FPTDLJ regarding a report of a stolen vehicle from Fox Ford in Wolf Point. The vehicle crossed the bridge into Mc-Cone County. K9 Hati was deployed and successfully tracked down one of the suspects. Coreen Smith, 41, and Jalen Robinson, 25, were charged and taken to the Roosevelt County Detention Center.
Feb. 21
Deputies assisted adult probation and parole in Culbertson regarding an adult male who tested positive for meth. Daniel Steudle, 58, was placed under arrest.
Deputies received a report from the Brockton School that a student allegedly made a threat to “shoot up the school.” Seven juveniles were interviewed. One citation was issued into tribal court.
Deputies assisted FPTDLJ with a family domestic report in Wolf Point. Amber Johnson, 35, was arrested by FPTDLJ.
Feb. 24
The deputy/coroner went to the hospital in Poplar to investigate a death as required. No foul play is suspected.
Deputies received a report in Poplar that a female was being held inside a bathroom. Brian Chaser, 33, was charged with partner/family member assault, elder abuse and false imprisonment. He was taken to tribal jail.
Feb. 25
Deputies responded to a report of possible gun shots being fired in Poplar. The reporting party said he thought he heard three gunshots. Law enforcement couldn’t identify any suspects.
Deputies responded to rural Poplar for a report of partner/ family member assault. An adult female was charged and taken to tribal jail.
