Bainville High School student Kaelyn Romo recently was honored as a queen as she continues to enjoy her senior year at the school.

Romo was crowned queen at the school’s Winterfest activities earlier this month. As vice president of the school’s student council, Romo was involved with the planning of the week’s fun activities.

She is also a standout for Bainville’s Business Professionals of America program. Romo has qualified for the state conference in each of her four years including advancing with the global marketing team and in advanced desktop publishing this year.

She said the team’s goal is advancing to the national BPA conference this year.

Romo has been a mainstay for Bainville’s athletics during her career as she has completed in volleyball, basketball and golf. She qualified for the state golf meet last spring and is hoping to do even better this upcoming season.

Her favorite sport, however, is softball as she plays first base for the league champion Bainville squad.

“We’re really, really good in softball,” Romo said. “I like to play in the field with all my friends and to play outside.”

Her favorite class is art where she enjoys pottery. “I like to go on the wheel and do ceramics,” she said.

She says she likes all of her teachers in Bainville. She has attended school in Bainville since preschool.

“It’s a small school so everybody knows each other,” she explained. “Everybody is friends with each other.”

After high school, Romo plans to attend Minot State University and study geology.

“I’ve always been interesting in going into science,” Romo said. “I like walking the hills and looking at rocks.”
