Chamber Prepares For Busy Month Of Tournaments In Wolf Point

Eric Peterson, activities director for Wolf Point High School, talked to the Wolf Point Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture about upcoming tournaments in the community during a meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 9.

Wolf Point will host the 21team Eastern B/C divisional wrestling meet on Feb. 2-3. The tournament will feature both male and female wrestlers.

Action will begin at 9 a.m. each day with tickets available starting at 8 a.m.

“Our gym will be packed two days solid,” Peterson said.

Teams competing will include Wolf Point, Poplar, Circle, Glasgow, Baker, Big Sandy, Chester/Joplin/Inverness, Chinook, Colstrip, Columbus/ Absarokee, Custer/ Hysham, Forsyth, Fort Benton, Great Falls Central, Harlem, Huntley Project, Malta, Broadus, Red Lodge, Roundup and Shepherd.

Peterson asked the chamber to handle the ticket sales and run the hospitality room throughout the tournament.

Wolf Point will then host the District 2B boys’ and girls’ basketball tournament on Feb. 14-17. Games will start at 3 p.m. with four contests each day.

Squads in the basketball tourney will be Wolf Point, Poplar, Glasgow, Harlem, Malta and Fairview.

The Chamber will help with tickets, concessions and the hospitality room for the basketball tournament.

Also during the meeting, Chamber officials discussed creating a job description for the open executive director position.

It was announced that Fleming and Long Insurance along with Independence Bank will purchase displays for the Christmas stroll. High Plains Veterinary Services has purchased a new Christmas dog light display.

Superintendent David Perkins announced the strategic planning meeting was postponed due to poor weather. A tentative new date is Jan. 30.
