Marlene Kay Leischner Fisher died Aug. 25, 2023, in her home. She was born to William “Bill” and Mabel Leischner on Sept. 8, 1945, in Miles City. After graduating high school, she went on and received her teaching certificate from Miles City Community College after two years. It was then when she accepted a teaching position teaching first, second and third grades for one year at the Spring Lake country school in Richland County before getting set up on a blind date with who would end up being her husband. She and Mike Fisher were wed on Jan. 28, 1967, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. To this union came Chelley in 1970 and then by surprise came Missy, 17 months later in November 1971. She served as secretary/ treasurer of St. Bernard’s Altar Society for 35 years. She and Mike drove school bus for 13 years. It was not long after Missy was born that she began selling Avon. She was known as the local Charley Creek Avon lady for about 40 years. She not only loved doing it as a hobby, but she also loved getting to visit the neighbor ladies and made many lifelong friends. She substituted off and on at the school before taking a full-time teachers aide position in the special ed room. By the time she retired, she had dedicated 30 years to Poplar Schools. Her life really started when grandchildren Sam and Ty came into this world in 1994 and 1997. She traveled all over eastern Montana to watch them in baseball, softball and other school activities. In January 2021, she suffered a massive stroke and was flown to Fargo, N.D., where she was treated, then she was sent to Billings for rehab therapy. She is survived by her husband, Mike of Sidney; daughters, Chelley of Charley Creek and Missy of Culbertson; two grandchildren; twp great-granddaughters; and half-brothers, Casper and Gordon Berger. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Casper Berger; brothers, Keith Leischner and Bill Leischner; and sister, Mary Lou Schmidt. Mass of the Christian Burial was Tuesday, Sept. 5, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Charlie Creek with Father Jim O’Neil officiating.

Warren James War Club, 54, died in Deer Lodge on Aug. 20, 2023. He was born on Oct. 20, 1968, in Wolf Point to Joan War Club. He was the youngest of nine children. In 1977, when their mother died, Rosanne and Brenda took on the duty of raising him along with the rest of their younger siblings. He was known to be a very kindhearted man and you would always see children following him around wherever he went. He enjoyed hanging out with his numerous friends and family telling stories of the places he’s been and the people he met along the way. There were times when he would want you to stay up all night playing his favorite card game “whist” while eating gabubu bread and drinking sweet tea. One of the things that stands out the most about Warren is that no matter where he was or who he was with you would always be laughing. He was preceded in death by his brothers, BJ, Tuck, Tom, Robbie and Stewart War Club; sisters, Rosanne Belcher and Leslie Marie War Club; and grandchildren, Charles Aguilar and Joan Adrian Christian. He is survived by his sister, Brenda Beaudry. His funeral was held Thursday, Aug. 31, at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Interment was at Chelsea Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.

Cameron James “CJ” Azure (Iron Spirit-Maza Nagi), an enrolled member of the Xosa- gah band of Hidatsa, child of The Antelope Society, 39, died July 31, 2023. He was born Sept. 14, 1983, to Vanchon Birdsbill and Kevin Leo Azure, the third of six children. At a very young age, he developed a caring and strong-willed personality which would define him in life. He was extremely athletic and, as a young boy, joined AAU Wrestling in which he excelled. During this time, he accrued many medals at tournaments across Montana. He continued this love for the sport of wrestling while attending Wolf Point Junior/Senior High School. He continued to shine, placing in tournament after tournament. He began working in construction, following in the footsteps of his father, Kevin. During his late teens and early 20s, he traveled to Phoenix, Ariz., as well as Washington state for work before finally settling in Wolf Point. As he grew so did his abilities in the fields of construction and cement work. He worked with his father, building everything from homes, large warehouses, all the way down to planter boxes with his sister. He was always there for his mother, with whom he shared a very special bond. All she needed to do was ask and he provided far more than was ever imagined. His eye for detail and his strongwilled personality would soon come to play in his finish work. He was a baptized member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Though not active, he held a sincere desire to learn about the mysteries of life, religion and about his Heavenly Father. He lived by faith and, thanks to him, he instilled within his family the wonderful gift of an even stronger faith. At the age of 23, he met Phoebe Jensen and they spent the next 17 years together. It was at the beginning of that relationship that he took on the role of father to young Cale and immediately began to raise him as his own. He loved being a dad and reveled in the opportunity to teach and coach his son Cale in his beloved sport of wrestling. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Both of these things he enjoyed doing with his family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Vanchon Birdsbill; father, Kevin Leo Azure; brothers, Louis Azure, Dillon Azure and Cole Grandchamp; sisters, Rhiannon Weeks and Vanchon Azure; longtime companion, Phoebe Jensen; and son, Cale Jensen. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 2, at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel.
