Sybil Summers

Sybil Faith (Half Red) Summers, 70, of Poplar died Nov. 24, 2023, in Poplar.

She was born to Loyal and Eunice (Feather Earring) Half Red on July 23, 1953, in Poplar. She graduated from Poplar High School in 1973.

She later attended Southwestern Polytechnic Institute in Albuquerque, N.M., and graduated with a certificate in the dental assistant program. After she came home to work at the Fort Peck IHS dental department, was also detailed to New Town, N.D., for a bit. She also worked at the Poplar City Dental office.

After being a dental assistant for a few years, she took some time to be a full-time wife and mother. She married Robert Summers Sr. on Jan. 21, 1978. They were married 45 years. From this union, five children were born. After her children got a little older, she went back to work for the Fort Peck Tribes and worked as a teacher and teacher’s aide for the Head Start program for over 20 years.

After retiring, she loved enjoying driving around, shopping and spending time with her family. She liked to go with her husband out in the country, whether it was for fishing or trapping. She also loved her puzzle books and watching WWE and Chicago PD and other shows weekly. She was also strong in her faith and love for God. She also enjoyed trying out new recipes.
