Leading the girls’ squad is two-time state champion Angelina Escarcega. The junior finished last season with a record of 39-0 and won all but two matches on pins.

Another strong contributor back for Poplar’s girls is Blake Follette, who won a match at the state meet last season. She placed second at the divisional meet.

On the boys’ side, sophomore Navarjo Escarcega is one of the top returning athletes. He earned third place at 126 pounds in the state as a freshman.

Aries White Tail Feather placed sixth at 285 pounds last year and is looking forward to improving on that performance. He took second place at the divisional meet.

The Indians will open their season at the annual Eagle Invitational in Sidney. The meet will feature opponents from several different states.
