Lustre Girls Feature Experience, Leadership

With all five starters returning, Lustre’s girls’ basketball squad seeks a return trip to the divisional tournament this season.

Starters back for the Lions are senior Aubri Holzrichter, senior Alexa Reddig, senor Grace Brown, sophomore Hannah Brown and junior Abby Olfert. Reddig is a multi-year All-State selection.

Lauryn Holzrichter, a freshman, and Jaden Gibson, a junior, also saw quality varsity court time last season.

“It’s pretty much the same team we had last year,” coach Bill Reddig said.

A plus is the addition of six eighth-grade girls to the high school program.

“They like to play,” coach Reddig said. “Last season, we had six girls who didn’t play before. It makes a big difference.”

The top girls’ teams in District 3C are anticipated to include North Country, Scobey and Circle. The top four teams will advance to the divisional tournament.

“Divisional is my goal again and to do a little better,” the coach said.

The Lions will open their season with tournaments in Glasgow and Scobey. Opponents will included District 2C teams MonDak and Froid/Lake. Lustre will face MonDak at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, and Terry at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2.

“I’m excited about it,” coach Reddig said.
