Season Of Giving

There is now a place in Wolf Point where clothing item are available to keep individuals warm during Montana’s cold winter conditions.

Hubbard’s Cupboard opened a couple of weeks ago at Community Bible Church, 434 Indian St. The free store, which is located in the back of the building, is open on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Pastor Arch Woodstock said he came up with the idea when he was providing coffee and doughnuts at Triangle Park. Despite freezing temperatures, one man was wearing only a nylon windbreaker. Woodstock gave the man his coat and gloves.

“We put out the word,” the pastor said. “We saw the need.”

Linda Hubbard has stepped forward to organize the donated items. She said the church’s bulletin mentioned that a volunteer for the project was needed. “I don’t have a life,” she laughed.

Because of her name, the store was named “Hubbard’s Cupboard.”

Donated items have included coats, pants, socks, boats, tennis shoes, blankets and quilts.

“It’s all free,” Hubbard said. “There are no restrictions.”

Hubbard and Sandy Woodstock have been impressed by the amount of items donated for the project.

“People keep bringing in good stuff,” Hubbard said. “We’ve been really blessed.”

Sandy Woodstock added, “As the weather gets colder, there’s going to be more of a need.”

Hubbard urges people to take advantage of the service. Individuals can take whatever they need from the donations.

“We have a lot of people that donated,” Hubbard said.
