Speech, Drama Travel For Talk Turkey Tournament

The Culbertson High School speech and drama team traveled to Billings over the weekend to compete in the Billings Central Talk Turkey to Me Invitational Tournament.

The tournament was held on the MSU-B campus, giving competitors the opportunity to view the campus up close and personal as they stretched their legs traveling the campus as they went to their rounds. The tournament had more than 300 competitors from 22 AA, A, and B/C schools comprising 248 entries, entered in 18 events.

When the day finally ended, Culbertson’s team made a great showing, with Harrison Green placing first in informative speaking and Samantha Palmer placing third in memorized public address.

Also competing and showing great improvement were Owen Annett, Colt’n Rees, Jax Flinn and Chris Chilson.

The CHS Speech team brought home second-place honors in the Class C Speech Sweepstakes.

The next competition will be held in Froid on Dec. 2. Coach Jeri Gustafson is seeking volunteers to assist: “We are still looking for judges for the Eastern Divisional B/C Tournament that will be held in Culbertson on Jan. 19,” she told the Community News. “We would love to have judges from throughout the area. Please consider helping us out.”
