Man Faces Drug Possession Charge

Theron Richard Hagadone is facing three charges, including a felony, after a traffic stop near Bainville on Oct. 21.

Charges are criminal possession of dangerous drugs, criminal possession of drug paraphernalia and driving a motor vehicle while privilege to do so is suspended or revoked.

He is scheduled to make his initial appearance in district court on Nov. 15. Bail has been set at $25,000.

Maximum penalties for the felony charge of criminal possession of dangerous drugs are five years in jail, a $5,000 fine or both.

According to court documents, a Roosevelt County Sheriff deputy observed a driver exiting the Welcome Stop in Bainville. The driver turned north without signaling the turn and then turned east without making a signal. The driver then went back into the Welcome Stop’s parking lot and stopped at a fuel pump.

When the deputy made a traffic stop, Hagadone said he went back into the parking lot in order to inflate a tire. He claimed he wasn’t the driver, although he was sitting in the driver’s seat during the traffic stop.

Dispatch reported to the deputy that Hagadone had warrants for his warrant.

The passenger of the vehicle told the deputy that they were returning to Poplar from Williston, N.D., where they picked up her vehicle from the Williston Police Department. She had reported the vehicle stolen, and Williston law enforcement recovered it.

The deputy arrested Hagadone on authority of the warrants. While searching Hagadone’s pants, a small baggie containing a half gram of clear, crystalline substance consistent in appearance and texture with meth was discovered. The substance later field tested positive as meth.

When the vehicle was searched, the deputy found a broken glass pipe, a piece of aluminum foil with black residue along with a melted and bent straw.
