Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 72 calls of service from Oct. 3-8. The calls included: October 3

Deputies responded north of Wolf Point on swimming pool road to a report of someone stealing hay. The incident turned out to be a misunderstanding.

A deputy/coroner went to Trinity Hospital to report on an attended/expected death.

Deputies assisted tribal police on a burglary report at Fred’s Casino and Bar in Brockton. A sum of money was stolen. Two adult males were detained temporarily and their vehicle impounded. It was later determined that the males were not the suspects. The investigation is ongoing. Primary investigator is Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice.

October 4

Two deputies assisted a federal probation officer at the Homestead Inn. Patrick Laverdure, 44, Wolf Point, was taken into custody on a federal warrant for probation violation.

Deputies assisted the Wolf Point Police with a disturbance at the Old Town Grill parking lot involving a juvenile female.

Deputies assisted WPPD and FPTDLJ after a report that a man suffered a possible gunshot wound near the Sherman Inn. Law enforcement searched the area. WPPD located the male, but he said he wasn’t injured.

October 5

Deputies responded to a reported assault of a female by two individuals in Poplar. FPTDLJ took over the investigation.

October 6

Deputies responded to a fight in progress in Fort Kipp. It turned out to be a verbal argument between an adult male and female. Both individuals left the scene prior to law enforcement arriving.

A report was received of a female in Wolf Point with a deep cut on her wrist. She was transported to the Wolf Point hospital.

October 7

Deputies responded to a motorcycle accident on Highway 2 in Poplar. An adult male was on the ground. EMS arrived on the scene and transported him for treatment. Thomas Morgan, 48, of Billings was charged with driving while privilege to do so is suspended.

Deputies assisted FPTDLJ at the Poplar east end water tower for a domestic dispute. No arrests were made.

October 8

Deputies assisted WPPD and FPTDLJ after a body was found south of the underpass in Wolf Point near the train tracks. The female was deceased. An autopsy was performed Oct. 10. Her identity has not been released as of presstime.

Deputies and FPTDLJ responded to a complaint from a woman in Poplar that an adult male asked her for money and then showed her a gun. The male was located with a broken BB gun in his possession.

Deputies responded to B& S Quick Stop in Brockton. Cory Stump, 40, was put into custody on authority of a tribal warrant.
