Wild West Diner Closes, Equipment Sale Not Planned

Shelley Baldwin and Ashlee Anderson told the Community News that a planned sale of seasonal merchandise and gifts will not include commercial kitchen equipment, standing coolers, grills and other equipment following the Sept. 1 closure of the Wild West Diner.

Shelley and Steve Baldwin completely remodeled the location, constructed from a decommissioned passenger railcar in 2020.

The merchandise sale will take place this weekend.

The turnkey operation remains ready for business and the Baldwins/ Andersons are hoping to sell the location, including the building and lot near the intersection of U.S. Highway 2 and Highway 16, to another eatery.

“Our hope is that someone will move in and take over,” Baldwin said. “It is turnkey ready.”

The diner is located at 20 6th Street East in Culbertson.
