Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 81 calls from Sept. 10 to Sept. 16. Anyone cited or arrested are presumed innocent. The calls included: Sept. 10

Deputy responded to a burglary alarm call to assist a tribal officer at Tribal Express in Poplar. All entry points were secured.

Deputies provided assisted to an adult female who required a ride from Culbertson to Wolf Point.

Deputies assisted the Wolf Point Police Department regarding a welfare check of a male in Wolf Point. Report was that the individual was considering suicide.

Deputy removed an unwanted person at the Gold Dust Casino near the state line. The individual was given a warning that he was banned from the casino.

Deputy responded to a report from a female in Culbertson that she was receiving harassing phone calls. More patrol was provided around the residence.

Sept. 11

The sheriff’s office assisted tribal authorities with a vehicle chase between Wolf Point and Poplar. Raul Gonzalez, 38, was arrested near the pow-wow grounds in Poplar. He was charged with two counts of criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute, fleeing or eluding a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer, criminal endangerment, driving without a valid drivers license, reckless driving, improper passing, violating speed limit near a school or senior citizen center and stop sign violation.

Sept. 12

Two deputies responded to a call near Culbertson from a woman who reported she was struggling with mental problems.

Sept. 13

Deputy/coroner responded to an unattended death in Poplar. The individual died from natural causes. Assistance was provided to the funeral home and tribal police.

Deputy responded after receiving a report of reckless driving near Bainville. After stopping the driver, it was determined the driver wasn’t impaired.

Sept. 14

Deputy responded to a call reporting an assault in Brockton. The individual was put in tribal jail on charges including partner or family member assault, criminal endangerment of children and criminal mischief.

The sheriff’s office assisted tribal police and investigators with a report of a stabbing in Poplar. Two adult males were injured and one was flown to Billings for medical treatment. Three juveniles are suspects.

Deputies assisted on a call from a third party reporting a fight in progress in Poplar. A juvenile male was arrested. He was cited and released to a guardian.

Sept. 15

Deputy responded to a report of a runaway juvenile male.

The sheriff’s office assisted in locating two juveniles in Poplar. Their parents were cited for curfew violation.

Sept. 16

Deputy assisted tribal police and an ambulance of a rollover truck accident east of Poplar at 6:37 a.m.

Deputy responded to a call from a third party in Wolf Point about a fight at the residence. Two males denied that a fight took place.

Deputy assisted tribal police and EMS from a call in Poplar of an infant not breathing. The infant was taken to the emergency room. Family services were notified.

Deputy helped remove a female from a residence in Poplar.

Deputy assisted with a call regarding a male kicking in doors at the laundromat in Poplar. The suspect left the premise before law enforcement arrived.
