Commissioners Approve Funds For Fire Trucks For Departments

The Roosevelt County Commissioners approved a resolution regarding the rotation for fire department vehicle purchases during their weekly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

A change is the county is increasing its commitments to the fire departments from $25,000 to $30,000. The funds will be given to one county fire department each year for the next five years.

The rotation includes Wolf Point in 2023-2024, Froid in 2024-2025, Bainville in 20252026, Culbertson in 20262027 and Poplar in 2027-2028.

The resolution notes that each year on the rotation order, the department may find a truck. If the department doesn’t, they will lose their turn in the rotation and the next department will move up in the sequence.

Upon completion of one rotation, the project will sunset unless renewed by the commissioners.

In other business, Angela Cole was hired as a full-time sheriff’s deputy. Sheriff Jason Frederick wrote that the hiring will fill the last open spot within the sheriff’s office.

Cole will start Sept. 15. She needs to attend the Montana Law Enforcement Basic Training.
