Judge Hears Status Report In Beston Case

Kameron Dale Beston appeared in district court for a status hearing on Tuesday, July 25.

Beston is facing three felony charges along with the misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of drug paraphernalia. The felony charges include distribution of dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute and use or possession of property subject to criminal forfeiture.

During last week’s hearing, defense attorney Shannon Sweeney reported to District Judge David Cybulski that the state has extended a plea agreement offer and that she believes the case will be settled before coming to trial.

During a hearing in April, it was mutually agreed that Beston will receive treatment at Rocky Mountain Treatment Center in Great Falls.

A trial was originally scheduled for July 13, but the trial date now been scheduled in October.

Count one is criminal distribution of dangerous drugs when he allegedly attempted to sell, barter, exchange or give away meth to a male at the Montana Bar in Culbertson.

The possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute count charges that Beston possessed meth in the vehicle he was driving with the intent to distribute meth in Roosevelt County.

The use or possession of property subject to criminal forfeiture charge claims that Beston knowingly possessed, owned, used, attempted to use or intended to use property that is subject to criminal forfeiture, when he transported and/or delivered meth in a 2011 black Chevrolet Camaro and/or possessed $321 to facilitate the distribution or intent to distribute dangerous drugs in Roosevelt County.
