Dispensary Ordinance Receives Second Reading

When the Wolf Point City Council held their regular meeting July 17, a second reading was given to the new dispensary ordinance. It was approved moving forward, with rules taking effect 30 days from signing. Under the new ordinance, a limit of three dispensaries will be enforced, with two of five dispensaries being grandfathered into compliance, effectively allowing them to do business despite the limit.

Brianna Vine from Great Northern Development Corp. gave the council an update about efforts to demolish two basements on Custer Street. A bid on the project from B& W Services in Fairview was approved for approximately $37,000 on the project.

John Bach from Interstate Engineering updated the council about construction efforts at the airport. A task order was approved for asphalt paving maintenance and a pay request from a contractor was approved in the amount of $247,358.67.

Mark Eggebrecht was approved for a gazebo maintenance contract at a rate of $500 per year.

Building permit certificates have been approved for Build Pro Construction at 200 Eureka St., Independence Bank at Agland East (final inspection, certification of occupancy) and Corland Construction for cold storage at 127 Dawson St.

Greg Lukasik from Great West Engineering gave the council an update on wastewater system improvements. A pay request for $736,230 was approved on the project, as was a draw request in the amount of $820,356.

A memorandum of understanding between the city and Roosevelt County was approved regarding landfill fee wavers, materials contributions and use of equipment on urban renewal and lot cleanup projects.

A $1.50 per hour increase in pay was approved for all city employees, with higher rates for Wolf Point Police Department members.

An annual contract was approved for random drug testing services. The treasurer’s reports were approved, as were meeting minutes.

The next regular council meeting is set for Aug. 15 at 7 p.m.
