Threat Immobilizes Area Communities
A call Sunday evening, July 16, to the Poplar Community Hospital by an unidentified individual resulted in a community- wide lockdown that stretched into Monday.
The Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice was notified that NEMHS had received a threatening phone call Sunday evening and determined that additional precautions were necessary.
The threat resulted in interruptions in services for NEMHS and Indian Health Services patients while facilities were in lockdown status.
By 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 17, law enforcement had determined that the threat had been mitigated and the facilities were able to resume normal activities after being given the “all clear” message from law enforcement.
NEMHS’ leadership team expressed appreciation to local law enforcement for their support and response to a potential community crisis.
