Eugene R. “Pete” Nicol, 94, of Nashua died July 12, 2023.

He was born May 18, 1929, in Nashua. He spent the first six years of his life on the farm located on the Milk River Coulee along the Missouri River.

In 1935, due to the construction of the Fort Peck Dam, the family relocated to the farm just southeast of Nashua.

He grew up working the farm until being drafted into the Army.

After returning from the Army, he met and married Idell Kappes on July 17, 1954.

He and his brother Dick took over the family farm. After Dick decided farming wasn’t his lifelong calling, he sold his stake in the farm to Pete. Pete and Idell worked the farm until retiring in 2004 at which time they moved into the town of Nashua.

In retirement, he enjoyed woodworking which included building barnwood picture frames and wooden boxes.

He enjoyed attending rodeos, watching PBR bull riding on TV, taking mini vacations
