Chamber Prepares For Stampede Week

Directors of the Wolf Point Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture are getting more and more excited as the 100th Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede nears. Beautification efforts have been taking place including picking up litter at some ditches. More efforts are being planned prior to the July 5-8 celebration. In addition, the beautification committee has purchased flags for the gazebo.

Volunteers will clean the Stampede’s concessions building starting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 15.

Director Jeff Presser said a new cooler for concessions will arrive prior to the start of Stampede.

The chamber has received a $9,200 Recovery Destination Event Grant from the Montana Department of Commerce in order for the Stampede committee to increase promotions for this year’s event.

Chamber president Jerald Petersen reported that the auction to help pay for activities during Stampede week went very well. Close to $20,000 was raised.

“It was good for the Stampede and great for Wolf Point,” Petersen said during the chamber’s monthly meeting about the auction. “I thank everybody for their donations.”

So far, more than 60 Stampede posters designed by Clint Long have been sold.

Julie D’Ambrosio, chamber executive director, reports that 16 vendors have registered for Art in the Park scheduled for Saturday, July 8.
