Please Provide Newspaper With Information Earlier
Every week is an adventure in the newspaper business. Some weeks, I’m off to a state track meet. Other weeks, I’m watching a couple of eighthgrade graduations.
As they say, variety is the spice of life.
We at your newspaper are hoping that you, our readers and advertisers, can help make our lives a little less stressful though. More and more pressure from our printers as far as deadlines is forcing us to request that you provide materials to us a little earlier than in the past.
We now respectfully ask that you submit ads, articles and photos to us on Fridays if at all possible. If you happen to remember something during the weekend that you forgot to send on Friday, we will still accept articles and photos on Mondays. We will try to still run ads that arrive by 10 a.m. on Tuesdays when possible, but that might not be always be possible and will certainly provide us with a few more gray hairs.
Sadly, we face printing challenges in the current newspaper landscape. It’s not like the good, ol’ days when legendary Harry Downs printed the newspaper in our own back shop. Now, our newspapers are printed each week in Helena.
Our publications, along with other area papers, are then taken to Great Falls where our driver picks them up and brings them back in the middle of the night to Wolf Point. We are part of many printing jobs in Helena, so we have to make sure we are done at our assigned time.
Of course, we will continue working long hours to provide our readers with as much local information as possible. It helps that some of us in the office don’t believe that sleep is a requirement. We are extremely thankful for your support so we can continue providing our newspapers in order to cover northeastern Montana to the best of our abilities.
