Committee Plans Final Touches For Auction

The committee for the 100th Stampede celebration put finishing touches on plans for a fundraising auction last week.

The Saddle Up and Open the Chutes For the 100th Stampede auction is set for Friday, May 5, at the Elks Lodge. The event will start at 6 p.m. and the auction will begin at 7 p.m.

Committee members decided that the night will feature a free taco and nacho bar.

Along with a live auction and bucket prizes, the event will feature raffles, chicken droppings bingo and 50/50 tickets. The committee reviewed contacts for different events planned during the Stampede, which is scheduled for July 5-9.

Pastor Arch Woodstock announced that a church service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 9, in firemen’s park. An ice cream social is planned after the service.

Other events and organizers include: Gun fights with Dan Hutchinson, HORSE basketball game with Marianne Zilkoski-Rees, a car show with Beau Garfield, a chair-ity and yard art show by the 100 Club, bed races by the fire department, cornhole tourney by Walleyes Unlimited, horse clinic by Bruce Bauer and Spotted Bull, human stampede by NEMHS, pool day/boat races by Mandy Campbell, pitchfork fondue by Jan Bryan, bouncy houses by Aaron Kurokawa and chicken dropping bingo by Barry Tjon.

Theresa Nichols Schuster has written a new book titled Brittle Silver. She is planning on being in the area for the 100th Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede. Discussion on having Schuster at the library for a book talk is ongoing.

The committee needs information by May 15, in order for an event to appear on the schedule.
