Atkinson Sentenced In District Court
Klane William Atkinson was sentenced during a hearing in district court on Tuesday, April 25.
Facing drug possession charges, Atkinson received a three-year deferred sentence for each of three counts. He was also fined $1,000 for each count. The sentences are to run concurrently.
The plea agreement was a joint recommendation from the defendant and the state.
“The upside is you have the chance to take it off your record for most purposes,” District Judge David Cybulski said of having imposition of a sentence deferred.
In other hearings in district court, Brandy Lynn Bowland made not guilty pleas to two counts of criminal endangerment and a driving while under the influence of intoxicants charge. The criminal endangerment felony charges claim that Bowland was chasing another vehicle at a high rate of speed and hit that vehicle causing damage and injuries to the victims, which were minor females.
She faces maximum penalties of a $50,000 fine, 10 years in jail or both for each of the criminal endangerment charges.
An omnibus hearing was scheduled for May 10. A trial was set for Aug. 17.
