Woman Dies From Drowning At Wolf Creek

A 67-year-old Pennsylvania woman who was working in the area was found dead from drowning on Saturday, April 15, in Wolf Point.

The conclusion of an autopsy conducted on Monday, April 17, was that Norma McDermott-Harcum died from drowning. The victim was working as a lab technician for Indian Health Services.

Roosevelt County Sheriff/Coroner Jason Frederick said that law enforcement received a report on Saturday morning that a vehicle was in Wolf Creek on the south side right before the Wolf Creek Bridge on U.S. Highway 2.

Officers discovered the vehicle’s door open and the victim’s purse outside the vehicle.

A search was conducted and the victim was located about a half mile south of the vehicle.

Agencies responding included Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice, the Wolf Point Police Department and the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office.

Frederick said he is waiting to receive a toxicology report to conclude the investigation.
