Culbertson Receives Superintendent Interest

The Culbertson School Board is working with the Montana School Board Association to find a new superintendent of schools.

Paul Finnicum, chairman of the Culbertson School Board, said applications are being accepted through May 5.

“I believe we have four or five applicants to date,” Finnicum said last week.

He expects that public interviews will take place in May after finalists for the position are determined.

Since many superintendents sign contracts at the start of the calendar year, Finnicum is pleased with the amount of interest in the Culbertson position.

“It’s nice we have that pool we have so far,” Finnicum said.

Long-time Culbertson superintendent Larry Crowder announced his resignation on Feb. 27, after the current school year.

Crowder, who served as Culbertson’s superintendent of schools for 25 years, has accepted the position as the executive director for the Montana Rural Education Association.

Prior to coming to Culbertson, Crowder worked as an administrator for 10 years in Saco.

Crowder will serve as Culbertson’s mayor until the end of June. The council needs to appoint a new mayor until the next available election.
