Bainville Council Talks Late Fees, Permit Forms

The Bainville Town Council held their regular meeting Feb. 13. Minutes were approved, as were the treasurer’s report. Public comment was received regarding questions about council schedules and appointments.

Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Michael Ellerton attended the meeting (K9 Hati stayed in the car) and provided the regular department report on area traffic stops and citations. He made a point to ask residents to call in reports of dogs on the loose. He said photos and video are welcome and to call the dispatch line with reports. That number is 406653-6216.

A possible fee or fee structure is being discussed regarding late utility bills. Mayor Toby Romo recommends a flat $50 fee. A tiered fee structure was also proposed. Talks are ongoing.

The council approved new building permit forms with additional options.

An incident with a propane tanker in the city limits of Bainville Jan. 22 prompted discussion of a hazardous material parking ordinance. Talks are ongoing.

A temporary utility billing clerk was approved for hire to help cover clerk Nikki Rogers during a short period of medical leave. The new clerk will be on duty beginning Feb. 15.
