Nygaard Faces Felony Drug Charges
Paul Douglas Nygaard is facing two drug-related felonies regarding fentanyl.
Each of the counts are criminal distribution of dangerous drugs by accountability.
According to court documents, special agent Raul Figueroa determined that Nygaard was distributing, through dozens of transactions, fentanyl in Roosevelt County.
Maximum penalties are 10 years in the Montana State Prison, a $50,000 fine or both for each count.
On March 10, 2022, Figueroa conducted a post Miranda-debrief of a minor with the consent of her parents. During this interview, consent was given for the Safe Trails Task Force to conduct a data extraction on their cellular device. During this extraction, Nygaard was identified as a fentanyl user and distributor within the exterior boundaries of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.
On May 10, 2022, agent William Brew of the Drug Enforcement Agency received drug intelligence that Nygaard at the beginning of every month buys tons of fentanyl pills that are stamped to look like oxycontin and sells them. While extracting information from a different cellular device, several known fentanyl users and distributors were identified.
