Culbertson Town Council Waiting On Bids

The Culbertson Town Council held their regular meeting Oct. 11.

The council is waiting for delayed bid openings to see what the future holds for the Montana Department of Transportation’s U.S. Highway 2 project, which is slated to begin in earnest this spring.

American Rescue Plan Act funding is available for the ongoing project but bids have been delayed in coming together and estimates are higher than expected.

Planned improvements at Big Sky Airport are also on hold pending bid openings.

Both projects will be discussed at an Oct. 18 special meeting.

At press time, the agenda for the meeting includes the aforementioned, as well as limited watermain replacement plans for a section near the high school and lagoon aeration plans.

At the Oct. 11 meeting, a site/ sketch plan was approved with conditions for a fence at property belonging to Neal and Audrey Stromberg.

Assistant librarian Jessica Kierstead resigned her position at the Culbertson Library. She has been appointed librarian at the branch. A new assistant is being sought.

The next regular council meeting is set for Nov. 14.
