Holen Makes Not Guilty Pleas To Charges
Richard Dean Holen of the Poplar/Wolf Point area made not guilty pleas to 10 offenses during his initial appearance in district court on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
The charges include five felony thefts, one theft by common scheme, one misdemeanor theft and three forgery offenses.
An omnibus hearing was scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 25. A trial was scheduled for Jan. 12, 2023.
The felony theft charges filed against Holen in include: * On July 15, 2021, obtaining control or exerting unauthorized control of a palomino mare.
* On July 15, 2021, obtaining control or exerting unauthorized control of a grullo mare.
* On July 15, 2021, obtaining control or exerting unauthorized control of a dun mare.
* On July 15, 2021, obtaining control or exerting unauthorized control of a dun mare.
* On July 15, 2021, obtaining control or exerting unauthorized control of a red dun mare.
The theft by common scheme offense charges Holen with purposely or knowingly, through a series of acts and/or omissions, obtaining or exerting unauthorized control, by deception or otherwise, over five foals in Roosevelt County.
Maximum penalties for each of the felony theft charges are a fine of $1,500, a sentence of three years in the state prison or both.
