In his second year in Wolf Point, senior Juliun Benson is feeling very comfortable at Wolf Point High School.

“There’s more people, and a lot of respectful people here,” Benson said of why he likes Wolf Point.

His family moved to the area from Dodson. He was already making a name for himself there for athletics as he was a two-year starter in basketball and played a lot as a sophomore for the Malta football team.

He says football is his favorite sport. “It’s very fun,” Benson said. “It’s the environment with everybody cheering.”

Benson got to renew friendships when the Wolves traveled to play Malta on Friday, Sept. 23.

“It was a tough loss, but I saw a lot of my old teammates,” Benson said.

He likes playing basketball for the Wolves, but he does miss facing some of his familiar Class C opponents.

“There’s more rivalries in Class C,” Benson explained. “Everybody wants to beat each other because you know each other more.”

During the summer, he plays baseball for the American Legion team in Glasgow. “I’ve been playing my whole life. It’s the love of the game.”

His father, Frank, serves as an assistant football coach and also umpires in the area during baseball season.

“He yells at me a few times, but that’s because he’s coaching,” Juliun said of playing for his dad.

Benson’s favorite teacher is Dan Horsmon for personal finance. His favorite class is government.

“I like hearing about the world,” Benson said of why he likes government class.

One of his role models is weight training teacher John Gardner because he played collegiate sports.

Benson plans to play football in college and hopes to become an engineer.

“I like hands-on work,” Benson said.
