U.S. Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., chairman of the Senate Western Caucus, hosted a roundtable on Thursday, Aug. 18, to discuss issues facing Montana and the West including the recent flooding in Yellowstone, Montana ag, wildlife management and active forest management.

“It was great to have folks in Bozeman today to talk about how we can better support our Montana farmers and ranchers, what needs to be done to reduce the risk of wildfires, the benefits of returning wildlife management to the state and Yellowstone’s road to recovery after this summers’ floods. Bringing voices together from within Montana and across the country to find commonsense solutions to issues facing the West is critical and I’ll keep working with my colleagues to protect our Montana way of life,” Daines said.

Panelists included Cam Sholly, superintendent, Yellowstone National Park; Zippy Duval, president, U.S. Farm Bureau Federation; Cyndi Johnson, president, Montana Farm Bureau Federation; Mac Minard, executive cirector, Montana Outfitters and Guides Association; Brian Yablonski, CEO, Property and Environment Research Center; Amanda Kaster, director, Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation; and over a dozen members of the U.S. House of Representatives including Rep. Matt Rosendale of Montana and Rep. Dan Newhouse of Washington, chairman of the House Western Caucus.
