Bainville Council Appoints Rathbun

The Bainville Town Council held their regular meeting Monday, August 8. The full current council was present and the meeting was called to order at 7 p.m.

Will Rathbun was appointed to finish the two year term vacated recently by Matt Giese. Ron Butikofer was also put forward as a candidate for the appointment.

During public works committee reports, council members discussed unaccounted for leaks at Duval Street and Fifth Avenue. They said a leaking valve was identified and the issue has been addressed successfully.

A noise ordinance was discussed, with council members narrowing a possible window of quiet from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., with an extension to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. Discussions are ongoing.

Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Deputy Joe Moore attended the meeting to answer questions. He reminded the community to utilize the Roosevelt County dispatch line for nuisance reports and other complaints. That number is 406-653-6240.

A resolution was passed to amend the 2021-2022 budget and the 2022-23 preliminary budget. Resolutions were also passed to commit general tax revenues to the capital projects fund and requesting distribution of Bridge and Road Safety and Accountability program funds.

Danielle Romo was approved for a birthday party to held in Simard Park Sept. 3.

Claims and checks were approved, along with payroll slips in the amount of $8,909.12. Mayor Toby Romo was approved to sign August payroll checks.

The next regular meeting will be Monday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. at the city office.
