Input Needed For Economic Development Strategy

Great Northern Development Corporation is seeking community input in developing its next fiveyear Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy.

GNDC is a nonprofit Economic Development District and Certified Regional Development Corporation based in Wolf Point. For the past 26 years, GNDC has provided professional business counseling, community development technical assistance, and economic resiliency planning to six counties in Northeastern Montana — Valley, Daniels, Sheridan, Roosevelt, Garfield and McCone.

The CEDS planning process encourages individuals, organizations, local governments, institutes of learning, and private industry to engage in a meaningful conversation about what capacity-building efforts would best serve economic development in the region. The overall goal is to develop a plan that will shape the economic well-being, resiliency, and quality of life in Northeast Montana.

The first step of a successful CEDS plan is community input. GNDC offers several options for community members to share their thoughts, including an online survey and “meet and greet” opportunities with GNDC staff at community events in June, July, and early August.

“Obtaining input from community members, businesses, organizations, private and public entities throughout GNDC’s six-county region is critical to the CEDS planning process,” notes Tori Matejovsky, executive director of Great Northern Development Corporation.

“We want to hear community members’ thoughts on what they like most about living and working here as well as the greatest challenges facing their communities. We also want to hear what they want the future for this area to include,” Matejovsky explained.
