Commissioners Approve Hire Of New Deputy

The Roosevelt County commissioners approved the hiring of a new sheriff office’s deputy during their meeting on Tuesday, May 24.

William Charbonneau was hired with a start day of June 1. He will be stationed in Froid.

Commissioner Gordon Oelkers said there will now be two deputies stationed in Froid and one stationed in Bainville.

Charbonneau is certified in the state of Tennessee and will need to attend only the two-week equivalency course to be Montana certified.

Also hired during the meeting were Cody Jacobs for the detention center and Tracie Smith for Extension Services.

The commissioners approved a maintenance request of $3,870 to repair a jail padded cell that was damaged by an inmate.

Commissioners approved a resolution for a COVID Health Equity Grant for $111,262. The funds are made available through the Montana Health Network and the State Department of Health and Human Services.

The funds will help pay for an employee at the Roosevelt County Health Department.

Cindy White was appointed to the aging board.

Summer help hired for the weed district include Logan Nickoloff, Payton Hauge, Ayden VanWhy, Kobe Nickoloff, Ethan Justice, Aiden Perkins and Autumn Bergum.
