Lustre Christian High School had it’s spring concert at the Lustre EMB Church May 4. The choir sang “American Lullaby,” “Shout Joyfully,” “Whom Shall I Fear?” by Cindy Berry and “Scarorough Fair.” Music festival entries were sung by Rachel Pew and Anna Teichroew (duet) and Hannah Marasco (solo) and solos were played by Arun Ramnarace (piano), Abby Olfert (trumpet), Rebekah Jossart (violin), Mason Hillkemann (alto saxophone) and Hannah Marasco (piano). Kaleb and Kolden Hoversland and Abby Olfert and Grace Brown sang “Low Rider” by Paul Clark. The band played “Lean on Me,” “Funeral March of a Marionette,” “Waltz” from “Sleeping Beauty,” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

A virtual baby shower, hosted by Alicia Olfert for Amanda (Lenihan) Henning, daughter of Frank and Debbie Lenihan, became a wonderful surprise for her parents when Amanda walked into the room, courtesy of some amazing friends on May 5. Amanda’s husband, Brad is in the Navy and they live on the east coast.

May 10 the various teachers and coaches held awards night for students in academics and athletics. The LCHS drama class presented “In the Limelight” on May 12 at 7 p.m.. The drama class presented improvisations, monologues, skits and two dance selections: “Dancing in the Streets” and “Footloose.” It was directed by Deb Cattell. Ron Reddig, athletic director, gave an award to Eileen Traeholt for her diligent preparation of the school facilities on game days.

Dwaine and Vivian Wall traveled to Springfield, Oregon to attend the memorial service of John A. Wall on May 6. His burial was Monday, May 16, at 1 p.m. at the Lustre EMB Cemetery in a private family service. Pastor Lee Button officiated.

The Lustre Grade School gave a spring concert on Thursday during school hours, directed by Michael Butler. From recorders to Filipino dance numbers, and band numbers to singing, it was a great concert.

This was graduation weekend at LCHS. Kolden Hoversland, Kaleb Hoversland, Rebecca Jossart, Arun Ramnarace and Sean Uy are our graduates. Arun is headed to Fort Leonard Wood for his Montana Army National Guard basic training, after which he will transfer to Fort Lee in Virgina for his AIT training to prepare for his role as a cook. Rebekah Jossart plans to work and go to culinary school. Kaleb Hoversland is headed to Bozeman to earn a degree in business management. Kolden Hoversland will pursue a business degree at Dawson College as well as play basketball. Sean Uy plans to attend Abilene Christian University in Texas to pursue a degree in Wildlife Resources and Management. Salutatorian is Kaleb Hoversland, son of Mr & Mrs Blaine Hoversland. Valedictorian is Sean Uy, son of Mr. & Mrs. Erickson Uy of Wolf Point. They gave great speeches! Congratulations to the graduates!

Kolden Hoversland introduced their commencement speaker, Mr. Ron Reddig, who spoke on “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough,” basing his talk on Jeremiah 29:11. He told the graduates to embrace God’s Will and vision for their lives. It might be different than what you planned, but it’s best. He answered the question “What is life?” with wise words and examples from his life as a caregiver for his wife, with the strength God provided to do so after his own liver transplant seven years ago. He told them “If you want to be blessed, serve others. He asked them to keep faith scrapbooks and journals to record God’s greatness and blessings in life. He exhorted the graduates to live a life of virtue. Tell the truth. It brings abundant joy.

Gifts were given to LCHS teaching staff leaving this year: Michael Butler, athletic director Ron Reddig and Al and Connie Leland. The entire community commends their years of service at LCHS. You will be missed!

A wonderful reception for all the graduates and their families was held at the ranch of Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Hoversland.
