New Emergency Sirens Added In County

The sirens going off several times last week in Wolf Point wasn’t a need of concern for area residents. Rather, new sirens were simply being tested.
Through a grant applied for by Roosevelt County’s Disaster and Emergency Services coordinator Lindsey McNabb, new sirens were purchased for Wolf Point near the school district’s office, Brockton by the fire hall, Culbertson by the Wheatland Hills subdivision and Bainville near the lagoon.
“It’s been a three-year effort by DES,” Roosevelt County Commissioner Gordon Oelkers explained.
Cost of the four sirens was $219,000.
Providing support help were Sheridan Electric, MDU and Industrial Communications.
McNabb said she is working on grants to fund new sirens in Poplar and Fort Kipp for next year.
