As initial Clean Sweep dates wrap up in Wolf Point, spring-themed anti-litter plans are set to be ongoing county-wide during May.

The Fort Peck Tribes OEP Department is hosting an Earth Day event May 5-6 in Poplar. Organizers ask that people leave bigger items out by the garbage cans and curbs. Trash pick up will be provided. Call 406-768-2325 for more information.

Area schools and local groups have been organizing substitution cleanup days to make up for plans canceled due to windy and stormy weather in April. Signs up at Wolf Point High School advertise clean-up plans for May 5.

Wolf Point’s Barbara Olson told the Northern Plains Independent that bags and gloves remain on offer at High Plains Motors in Wolf Point and said informal efforts will be ongoing.

“This isn’t a one-anddone,” Rosie Kurokawa told the Northern Plains Independent.

“We pick those two weeks, but we never know what the weather is going to be.”

Kurokawa said that efforts in Wolf Point typically continue into May. Olson advised closed-toed shoes, appropriate clothing and gloves.
