When it comes to school spirit, senior Jami Beston leads the way at Wolf Point High School.

Beston has enjoyed her time as a cheerleader during Wolf Point’s football and basketball seasons. When given a choice, she prefers basketball. “Just because it’s so cold during football games,” she said.

Cheering at a football game in the summer should suit her fine though. She has recently been selected to serve as a cheerleader for the Montana East-West Shrine Football Game scheduled in Great Falls for June 18.

“Shrine has a group of senior girls who pick the team,” Beston said. “When my coach told me about it, I was super excited.”

She is one of 17 girls who has been picked as a cheerleader for the East team.

“Now, I’m really excited,” Beston said about being selected.

She explained that she likes the team approach of cheerleading.

“Even if just one person is missing, we can’t do as much,” Beston said. “We all have our part to play.”

A hobby for Beston is playing piano although the honor roll student doesn’t have a lot of time to practice.

As far as her favorite classes, she lists college composition and chemistry.

“It’s easy for me and I like to learn about the little things that make us up,” Beston said of chemistry.

Favorite teachers are Don Horsmon and Douglas Evans. She thanks her mother, Alisha Morales, and her cheer coach Nellie Garfield for their support.

“I like the atmosphere of family and friends,” Beston said of the Wolf Point community. “Everybody knows everybody here.”
