County OKs Support Letter For Culbertson Pool Project

The Roosevelt County commissioners agreed to write a letter of support for the Town of Culbertson’s upgrade to its swimming pool and bathhouse.

The letter of support is for a Montana State Parks Grant that could result in more than $100,000 for the project.

Officials have said that work could start as early as the fall since grants are received.

The letter reads, “This project will be a great asset to the Town of Culbertson and Roosevelt County residents. Currently, Culbertson has the only outdoor swimming pool in Eastern Roosevelt County. Each summer, the facility provides swim lessons, which is critical with a fish pond located on the edge of town as well as the Missouri River just south of town. The facility serves several communities from Eastern Roosevelt County as well as many residents of Northern Richland County each summer.”

The current facility was built in the early 1970s. The Culbertson Women’s Club has raised approximately $155,000 to date for the project.

During an administrative meeting, commissioners approved cancellation of personal property taxes that have been delinquent five years or more, and real property taxes that have been delinquent 10 years or more.

Commissioners explained that the resolutions are not new but need to be conducted on an annual basis.

In other business, commissioners reappointed Gina Snyder to the planning board.

The commissioners also approved the purchase of a handicapped accessible door for the east end of the health department building.
