Cases Heard In District Court

Vincent Benjamin Putman was sentenced during a hearing in district court on Wednesday, Jan. 12.

Putman received a twoyear deferred sentence and a $500 fine for the charge of possession of dangerous drugs.

In another hearing on Jan. 12, Weldon Drew was found in violation of his bond release. The bond revocation occurred after Drew failed a drug test that day.

Drew is facing the charges of criminal distribution of dangerous drugs by accountability.

Daniel David Aakre made not guilty pleas to the charges of theft and criminal mischief.

An omnibus hearing was scheduled for Feb. 16.

Aakre requested to have his bond of $100,000 be reduced. He has owned his own home for 19 years.

District Judge David J. Cybulski released Aakre on his own recognizance.

“Don’t make me look stupid by not showing up,” Cybulski said. The judge released Timothy Patrick Johnson until his trial date of Feb. 17.

Johnson is facing the charges of forgery by accountability, theft by accountability and obtaining anything by fraud or illegal gambling devices.

County attorney Frank Piocos said the Johnson matter has been going on for two years.

“To me, it’s either plead guilty or go to trial,” Piocos said.
