Wolf Point High School’s Jaylee Azure is enjoying her favorite activity this winter.

The senior has been a solid force as the Wolves are off to a strong start this girls’ basketball season. She notes that basketball is definitely her favorite sport.

“I just grew up playing it,” Azure said of why she loves basketball. “My whole family plays it.”

She said one of her favorite memories of the current season was a particular play during the tournament held at Lockwood.

“I blocked one shot running from one end of the court to the other,” Azure said.

Another special feature of playing for the Wolves is that her father, Jeromy Azure, is one of the team’s assistant coaches.

“He’s always been tougher on me,” Azure said of being coached by her dad. “He’s pushed me to love the game.”

She notes her goal for the season is for the Wolves to qualify for the state tournament.

She has also competed in volleyball at Wolf Point High School.

“I just went out to get in shape for basketball,” Azure said. “But I liked it.”

During the summer, he’s one of the top players for Wolf Point’s league champion softball squad.

“I’m good at hitting,” Azure said.

She said her favorite class is weightlifting. Her favorite teachers include Eric Peterson and Dan Horsmon.

After high school, her plan is to join the U.S. Army. Her professional goal is to become a nurse.
