Bearcubs Lose To Mavericks

The Frazer Bearcubs lost to North Country, 76-30, in the first round of the District 3C boys’ basketball tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 17. North Country led 24-13 at the end of the first quarter and then outscored the Bearcubs, 21-0, in the second period. Top scorers for North Country were Beau Simonson with 16, Jesse Lee with 13, Trey Johnson with 12 and Aiden Albus with 12 points.

McKean Rejected For Fish And Wildlife Commission

The Montana State Senate on Friday, Feb. 18, voted 31-18 to reject Andrew McKean’s nomination to the Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission. Yes votes were against the nomination while no votes were for McKean’s nomination. The two state Senators from the Hi-Line split their votes. Senator Mike Lang of Malta voted against McKean’s nomination while Senator Mike Fox voted for the nomination.

Cowgirls Handle Fusion For Victory

The sophomore combination of Megan Granbois and Makena Hauge was too much for the Richey/Lambert Fusion to handle as Culbertson’s girls won by a 62-34 margin at the District 2C basketball tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 17. Granbois scored 32 points and Hauge accounted for 23 points in the loser-out contest. The Cowgirls trailed 9-8 in the first quarter before two straight baskets by Granbois.
