Beverly Ann (Nelson) Martell, 83, of Bend, Ore., died on April, 9, 2021, at her home. She was born Oct. 4, 1937, at the Martin farm in Dane Valley near McCabe to Nels and Blenda (Salvevold) Nelson She attended school in Culbertson, where she was an honor student, graduating in 1955. She was very active in cheerleading, drama and choir. She married her long-time friend and classmate, Michael Martell, on July 9, 1955, in Sidney. They moved to southern California where they lived for 15 years. In 1970, the family moved to Sweet Home, Ore., where the children finished their education. In 1985, they moved to Portland, Ore. Upon retirement, they bought property in Bend, Ore., in 1997 where they built a home and resided. Both were very active in their church, Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. She was preceded in death by brothers, Wilbur “Boob” Nelson, Donald Nelson and David Nelson. She is survived by husband, Michael; sons, Larry Martell (who subsequently died April 11, 2021) and Michael Jr.; daughters, Donna Poirier and Peggy Cordier; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Her service will be held at Holy Communion Church in Bend, Ore., on Friday, April 23, at 3 p.m.
