Bainville FFA coach Kellan Standley told the Community News that Bainville, Culbertson and Froid all had strong showings at the Big Muddy FFA meet Dec. 6.

“Overall, the event ran smoothly,” said Standley. “There were many compliments on the quality of the contests. None of that would be possible without the support of numerous individuals serving as judges, planners, proctors, donors, and other helpers. They don’t get the public recognition, but they’re what make the event a success.”

Standley said the level of competition was high.

“I would also commend all of the students and their advisors for the level of competition that was on display. You could tell most students had come prepared. The floral arrangements especially made it clear that students had been practicing.”

Despite frigid temps and challenging road conditions, attendance was also high at the event. “We had 12 of the 13 FFA chapters represented,” said Standley, “with over 80 in floriculture and 65 in sales despite the subzero temperatures.”

Bainville saw strong showings from Tally Berwick and Wyatt Iverson, who were ranked eighth and ninth respectively out of more than 40 individuals.

Carolyne Christofferson from Froid came in 11th and Autumn Bergum placed 19th for Culbertson, topping that squad’s efforts.

Paige Carda from Lambert placed first at the meet, followed by Cole Taylor from Opheim and Richey’s Ella Robbins.
