Rosendale Applauds Defeat Of Voting Rights Advancement Act

U.S. Rep. Rosendale, R-Mont., issued a statement regarding the cloture vote on S.4 – the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2021 failing in the Senate on Wednesday, Nov. 3.

This bill was introduced by 49 Senate Democrats, including Montana Sen. Jon Tester. On Aug. 24, 2021, Rep. Rosendale voted against H.R. 4, the house version of the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2021. The bill would constitute a complete federal takeover of Montana’s elections, and would pose a threat to essential election reforms enacted by the Montana legislature, including H.B. 176, which ended same day registration, and S.B. 169, which created new voter ID requirements.

“The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act is a partisan power grab for Democrats to federalize our election process and allow left-leaning bureaucrats to dictate our election laws. I was proud to vote against the bill in the House and happy to see it has failed in the Senate,” Rosendale said. “I trust Montanans to run free, fair and secure elections. It is extremely disappointing to see Jon Tester again side with farleft Democrats’ attempts to overrule many of Montana’s recent election reforms and hand complete control over Montana’s elections to Joe Biden and federal bureaucrats.”
