Roosevelt Medical Center is proud to announce Yin Yu as their new physical therapist following the recent retirement of Rita Nemitz.

Yin is certified in cancer rehabilitation and also in decongestive therapy for lymphedema, a swelling that occurs in the arms and legs, often after removal or damage to lymph nodes as part of cancer treatment.

She is also certified in dry needling, a technique used to treat pain and muscle impairments.

“My immediate goal is to provide the very best care to as many patients as possible,” she said.

Yin graduated from McGill University in 2009 in Montreal, Quebec and then started her career at Montreal General Hospital.

“I love analyzing the body and the mechanics of it. I had originally considered medical school but once I started some of the physical therapy program classes, I loved it,” she said.

Originally from Northeast China, Yu grew up partly in Montreal, Quebec but has spent the last five years living in Sidney and working at Sidney Health Center. “I really enjoy living in a small community. I am looking forward to meeting people in this area and getting to know them,” she said.

An acrylic artist herself, Yu said she fell in love with Montana after visiting the Yellowstone Art Museum in Billings. “I remember looking at the western paintings and thinking they were so well done and beautiful,” she said. “I really love the landscape here with its’ vast prairies and peaks,” she added. The area also enables her to indulge her passion for horseback riding. “I don’t own any horses, but I have lots of friends who allow me to ride theirs,” she said.

Yin is fluent in English, French, Chinese and Spanish. She also enjoys cross country skiing, running, healthy baking and acrylic painting. Her favorite musician is Celine Dion, and she also enjoys Mongolian folk, classic jazz and country. Her favorite colors are purple and turquoise, and her favorite foods are cheese and chocolate paired with wine and friends. She also has two pets, a cat named Marie-Lou Yvette Yu and a dog named La Noche (The Night) Smurfette Yu.
