Nemitz Retires From RMC Therapy
Rita Nemitz, a physical therapist, has helped hundreds of patients improve their ability to move and manage their illnesses and injuries one exercise or stretch at a time. Similar to an athlete’s coach, she has cheered her patient’s on as they have recovered and resumed their daily activities.
After 17 years of service to the surrounding community, Nemitz, a longtime physical therapist is retiring from Roosevelt Medical Center’s physical therapy department.
“Over the years, I have received so much support from the community and that has made this a tough decision. I just feel it is time to start a new chapter in my life,” Nemitz said.
In retirement, she plans to continue to help with the family farm and ranch and spend some time at her lake house in Fort Peck. She is also excited to have more time to get involved in her church and some other organizations and interests she has never had the time to pursue. She is also relieved to know she will not have to commute to work in the winter.
For the past 13 years, Nemitz has worked with Laura Labatte, a physical therapist assistant. “I think our patients are going to miss the relationships they have developed with Rita and the conversations they have had during their appointments. She has been consistent in their care and they have always known they would be taken care of,” Labatte said.
Nemitz has worked in her field for the past 31 years and received her education from the University of North Dakota. Throughout her career she worked in a number of area facilities in communities such as Sidney and Glendive as both a provider and a director.
“I am proud that over the years we have created a department that doctors in North Dakota and Montana have been impressed with and referred their patients to. My biggest hope is that the person to join the department thrives in the community and is dedicated to maintaining the high standards for care we have at RMC. This is a place providers want to send their patients to because it is a great place to receive care,” she concluded.
