Wolf Point High School senior Mason Garfield has accomplished many goals during his time at the school.

Last wrestling season, Garfield placed fourth at the divisional meet and sixth at the Class B state meet.

“All my matches at state were really close, they could have went either way,” Garfield said.

Garfield, who also qualified for the state meet as a sophomore, is looking to improve on his quickness and his techniques this upcoming season.

“My goal is to win state, take first at state,” Garfield said.

Last track season was also full of accomplishment for Garfield. He qualified for the state meet in both the shot put and the 400-meter relay.

“I really like throwing, but I run because my coach likes me too,” Garfield said.

As a team, the Wolves won the district title and placed second at the divisional meet.

“It was really cool,” Garfield said of the track season.

During the recent football season, Garfield’s physical play was a strong point for the Wolves. He said a highlight on the field for the Wolves was scoring against a strong Malta team.

He enjoyed spending time with his teammates and bus trips.

After graduating from high school, Garfield plans to move to Missoula, box and train to become a fighter in the MMA.

He notes that his father, Doug, has taught him everything he now knows about boxing. Mason’s youth boxing career includes about 36 matches and advancing all the way to nationals as a seventh- grader.

“I just love the competition and know the feeling that fighting brings,” Garfield said.

He says his favorite class is weightlifting.

Garfield’s favorite teacher is Douglas Evans. “He’s just funny and is open about things,” Garfield said.

Garfield is thankful for the friendships he has made at Wolf Point High School.
