Sarah Williamson is one of the senior students who is making a positive impact at Wolf Point High School.

Williamson has been a strong volleyball player in the district since she started playing the sport in the fourth grade. She remembers that as a sixth-grader she was moved up to play with the eighth-grade team.

“I like how you have to work together,” Williamson said of why she enjoys volleyball. “It’s not just one person getting the ball.”

She says her passing and communication have improved during the current season.

The three seniors on the volleyball roster are Williamson, Hamyanie Campbell and Jaylee Azure.

“I feel that all us seniors are leaders,” Williamson said. “We all push each other to do their best.”

She explains her favorite memory of the current season came during the Choteau tournament. On a key point, teammate Adeia Erickson tried to pass the ball over the net. The ball tipped the net and, to everybody’s surprise, went over for a point.

“We didn’t know how it ever went over,” Williamson said. “And we laughed.”

Williamson is looking forward to playing the district tournament on her home court on Friday, Oct. 29, and Saturday, Oct. 30.

“It’s pretty cool,” Williamson said of having the tournament in Wolf Point. “I hope our team works together to win.”

In the classroom, her favorite class by far is art.

“I like free style art where you can do anything,” Williamson said. “It’s fun to create your own art.”

Vivian Schultz is her favorite teacher.

Williamson was excited to hear last week that her entry placed third in the Fort Peck tribal security logo contest. She will receive $100 for the accomplishment.

“It was actually my first contest,” Williamson said.

Her plans are to attend Fort Peck Community College next year and then study toward a business degree. She hopes to work for BIA in Poplar.
