Hello Tribal Members. My …. Hello Tribal Members. My ….

Hello Tribal Members. My name is Emerson Young. I’m married to Norma Headdress Young for over 10 years. We have three children Greysen, Harper, and Emerly. My parents are Richard and Eliza Young. My grandparents are Elmer and Elizabeth Lester DeCoteau and Effie Cloud Two Bulls. I’m an army combat veteran of the Iraq War. I was in the military for 9 years. After the military I worked for the Tribal Road Department for ten years. I’m running for re-election of the Tribal Executive Board.

I’m not going to say I did this or that, because you need the support of the board to get projects done. While I served on this term, I worked with the rest of the eleven council members to get the Frazer lagoon project done. It was thirty years overdue but now the community can expand in areas of housing and businesses. After Covid hit, we began to renovate the Fort Kipp, Frazer, and Oswego community halls. These halls were in dire need of renovations and upgrades not only for community members but we had to prepare in the case that we may have had to use them for critical care. After years of planning, negotiations and finalizing, we got the Running Buffalo Health and Wellness Center built which is set to be ready to open in December. These are some of the major projects that we got done in our term. We were slowed down by Covid, but by working together we did not stop any projects in progress or shut down Government business in any way.

If re-elected I will start by going to the schools to see what they would like to see in their communities and bring it back to the board. I started visiting the schoosl after I was elected early in this term but the Covid virus restrictions placed my visits on hold until those bans are lifted. I will work with the board to see what we can do for our youth. I always say they are the future of are Tribes. We need to show them that we care, because if we don’t who will? If the youth have activities to engage in, they will stay out of trouble. We need to show them that if they work hard enough, they can accomplish anything. This council has funded youth activities such as the Tribal Elves, NDO Youth council, pretty feather dance group as well as the annual community fund contributions. I would like to work with the board to get better care for our veterans and elders too. There is a lot of funding available through various organizations as well as the State of Montana, we just need to tap in to it.

I can go on and on, but if you have any other questions, you can always feel free to ask me. In closing I would like to thank you for the support these last two years. I would like to continue working for the people of the Fort Peck Tribes.

Thanks, Emerson Young (Cell Number 406-561-4758)
