Northwest Farm Credit Services has awarded Vida Elementary School a $1,500 Rural Community Grant, according to an Aug. 23 press release.

“Thanks so much, Northwest Farm Credit Services, for the $1,500,” said Nina Crockett, McCone County Treasurer/Superintendent of Schools. “These funds will be used to purchase playground equipment which is in dire need of replacement at the Vida Elementary School. The school has been serving the elementary population for almost 100 years and expecting over 40 enrolled students this fall. The school, the hub of the community, also serves as a community center for baby showers, wedding showers, funeral luncheons, Thanksgiving dinners, reunions, holiday gatherings, birthday parties, exercise classes, voting polls and many other community functions. Therefore, these funds are not only appreciated by the school and students, it is very much appreciated by the entire Vida Community.”

Northwest FCS has been helping rural communities since the program’s inception in 2007. It has awarded 1,522 grants totaling more than $2.92 million.

The Rural Community Grant Program provides funds to non-profit organizations for projects that improve a community’s infrastructure, viability and/or prosperity. If you think your project may be eligible, visit northwestfcs.com/ruralgrants for more details and the online application.
